Buying an eyepiece such as the Orion Stratus will improve your viewing enjoyment over the eyepieces included with your telescope, without doubt. From the increased eye relief to the increase in contrast, it will be a nice experience. Will it make a "big difference" to your views of Jupiter? That will depend largely on what you call a "big difference". My opinion is no, you would not think it would be a big difference.

More expensive eyepieces are generally a bigger improvement for more expensive telescopes. The nice thing is that once you buy a nice set of eyepieces you can use them in any telescope. For me, the initial jump from the inexpensive eyepieces to the Orion Stratus line was one I was very happy to make. The views are better, yes, but the comfort and ease of use (not having to look through the little tiny lens, not having to have my eye in exactly the right spot, being able to see more than a tiny little section of sky) makes the whole experience tremendously more enjoyable.

My suggestion would be to borrow one, or if you cant, buy one and try it. The 17mm is a favorite and the 13mm is pretty nice too. For clusters etc I really love my 24mm.

Hope this helps!

I have bought a Celestron Nexstar 6se. I have a Celestron eyepiece kit. The planet Jupiter has been really cool to see but I can barely see the bands on the planet. Will buying a Orion Stratus or similar eyepiece make a big difference ? Can it also help see deep space objects or do I need to regroup on my telescope ? I am new to astronomy but really excited about one day seeing good detailed objects from planetary to nebulas and galaxies. Any suggestions appreciated please don't hold back with honest tough opions if needed. Thanks
